About Us

Career HORIZONS is managed by the Stuart Mitchell Group of Companies. The principals of the Group are Stuart Mitchell, Managing Director of Stuart Mitchell and Company Limited, and Peter Tate, Managing Director of Into Life Personal Development Ltd. Mike Severs is our Technical Director for our PC based products.

Our principals are:

Stuart Mitchell

Stuart has an extensive background in management, consultancy, training, and software development. He has a degree in Psychology with postgraduate qualifications in management, marketing, human resources, and career guidance.

His first career was in Thomas Cook where he travelled extensively in the UK and overseas. After a deeply spiritual experience overseas, he trained as a careers advisor and worked for two local authority career services becoming a manager for mid-Surrey. He went on to work for Communication Improvements as a trainer in interpersonal communication skills and worked at board and senior manager level in many blue chip organisations before joining Hay Management Consultants as Director of Business Development. Stuart set up Stuart Mitchell Associates in 1992 and has managed the Stuart Mitchell Group for 14 years.

Stuart runs the Performance Review Skills for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development as an Open Workshop, and also for CIPD in-company solutions nationally and internationally. He is a personal tutor for the CIPD's Certificate in Personnel Practice. Stuart is an active member of St Saviour's Anglican Church in Guildford Surrey.

Peter Tate

Peter has a strong background in software development for the Internet complemented by extensive training and team development experience.

Following a degree in Biochemistry Peter began his career in Further Education software systems and there developed his passion for training and team development. Following a period in large systems development, leading international software teams across three continents (and 5 time zones!) Peter began working in Internet technologies and built highly productive teams from scratch for a number of software ventures.

In 2003 Peter formed Into Life Personal Development to focus on developing individuals through coaching and to provide software and education solutions that support both individuals and organisations. Peter has now delivered Career Horizons web based solutions to a number of large enterprises.

Mike Severs

Mike has an engineering background, and has worked around the world in telecommunications and pipeline technology. Mike is a professional computer systems and engineering consultant with specialisations in systems analysis, computer and communications system design and project management.

Mike's experience includes responsibility in the past for study, design and implementation of computer based control systems in the water, power, transport and industrial sectors around the world. His projects include work on the Great Man-Made River project in Libya, and Traffic Control and Surveillance for the Western Harbour Crossing project in Hong Kong.

Mike has developed the PC based software for our major career development packages including CareerBuilder 5, Corporate HORIZONS and CV Builder . Mike has also had considerable responsibility for developing our related software packages Odyssey, PICKUP, and theTAP Databank. Mike works from offices in Canada and Australia.
